Da sempre nel mondo della musica, ha imparato a suonare la chitarra iniziando dai primi accordi con le canzoni dei Beatles. Ben presto la sua vena compositiva ha preso il sopravvento. Dopo la pubblicazione dell’Ep "What Are You Waiting For", esce nel 2008 il suo debut album “Copenhagen”, che prende il nome dalla capitale danese dove Chris ha vissuto e studiato per sei mesi. La musica di Chris Townsend è quanto di più classico si possa ascoltare. Ballate intense che si intrecciano con brani più corposi e dalle venature rock. Un disco che sarà attuale anche fra vent’anni. Il debut single “Radio”, uscito a febbraio, è un inno e omaggio ai Beatles e al brit pop in generale. “Radio” è una intensa ballata agrodolce che mette in rilievo le orchestrazioni utilizzate da Chris. “Radio”, come dice il nome, è un ottimo brano di sicuro interesse radiofonico. “Copenhagen” è aperto da una splendida perla: “Come And Go”. Brano che racchiude tutta la capacità compositiva e il phatos di Townsend: “As we walk through valleys follow the stars we know/ They are satellites guiding your way to go”. Magnifica. La ballatona “All You Can Say” introduce la doppietta “Back Again (so Damn Smart)” e “Copenhagen”, due face della stessa medaglia finite sul medesimo, secondo, singolo. L’incedere pop rock di “Back Again (so Damn Smart)” compensa le atmosfere rarefatte di “Copenhagen”: “I feel the way the city moves me/ and now I'm bruised here, but I'm healing”. Dopo l’arrembante stile Bryan Adams di “Hardest Summer”, arriva la vera perla di tutto il disco. La canzone che vale un album intero. La canzone che emoziona al primo ascolto: “Stay Positive”. Ballata toccante, calda, magica: “All I’m asking is you stay positive/ My heart is racing for you now/ All I’m asking is you stay positive/ Breathing in and breathing out”. Chiude “For The Best”, unico brano insieme a “Untied” scritto a quattro mani con David Sneddon. “Copenhagen” è un lavoro senza tempo, dove ritmo e melodia si intrecciano intorno al cuore di chi ascolta. After the "What Are You Waiting For" Ep publication, the debut album “Copenhagen” go out in the 2008. The title is taken from the Danish capital where Chris lived and studied for six months. The debut single “Radio”, February one, is a Beatles and a general brit pop hymn and tribute. “Radio” is an intense bittersweet ballad reliefing Chris’s orchestration. “Radio”, just like the title, is a good to come radio success. “Copenhagen” being opened from a wonderful pearl: “Come And Go”. The pop rock rising of “Back Again (so Damn Smart)” makes pair with the rarefied atmospheres of “Copenhagen”: “I feel the way the city moves me/ and now I'm bruised here, but I'm healing”. After the rushing style of Bryan Adams “Hardest Summer”, at least comes the real pearl of the whole Cd. The song that is the real value of the whole album. A song that is a first listening emotion: “Stay Positive”. Touching ballad, warm, magic: “All I’m asking is you stay positive/ My heart is racing for you now/ All I’m asking is you stay positive/ Breathing in and breathing out”. “For The Best”, is the closing one, the only record, together with “Untied”, written by four hands with David Sheddon. “Copenhagen” is a no time work of art, where rhythm and melodies insert one in other, thought the listener heart. A very sensible Chris Townsend put in lines 10 tracks that could be equally singles. Extraordinary. |
